Call for volunteers!

The Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve (MRMR) Committee of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is looking for volunteers to review and evaluate leading practice guidelines that are being updated.

One of the mandates of the MRMR Committee is to keep abreast of changes and advances in international MRMR classification, definition and reporting as well as recommend changes to the CIM Definition Standards, as required.

The Committee is looking for volunteers to attend monthly meetings, assist in developing and reviewing draft CIM leading practice guidelines, and provide comments and opinions. Volunteers should have a background in exploration geology, mineral resource estimation, mineral reserve estimation, and an understanding of CIM Standards Definitions, Best Practice Guidelines, and NI 43-101.

If you are interested in assessing these guidelines, please contact Jennifer Breaux at jbreaux@cim.org by April 30, 2024.

About the CIM MRMR Committee

The CIM Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve (MRMR) Committee develops and defines the standards and leading practice guidelines that are intended to foster greater standardization of reporting within the public domain, specifically under NI 43-101. These standards provide a benchmark for both companies and Qualified Persons in discharging their responsibilities. MRMR’s mandate is to be aware of advances in international classification, definition and reporting; maintain, update and make changes to Standards as required; undertake a program of industry and CIM member consultation prior to submitting definitions to CIM Council for approval; serve as a conduit between the industry, CIM and the CSA; and represent CIM and Canada on CRIRSCO.
