International Reporting Codes for Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Reserves Definitions
A major milestone in achieving uniformity of international reporting standards was reached in 2006. The Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards (CRIRSCO) published the first version of its International Reporting Template for Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (IRT) modelled on the best of the CRIRSCO-style reporting standards such as the JORC Code (Australasia), SAMREC Code (South Africa), PERC Reporting Standard (Europe), CIM Guidelines (Canada), SME Guide (USA) and Certification Code (Chile). These reporting standards are recognized and adopted world-wide for market-related and financial investment. CRIRSCO currently represents national reporting organizations in eleven countries. CIM has two representatives on CRIRSCO. The IRT is a guideline that encapsulates the standards for the benefit of the international mining industry and its various stakeholders. It is a living document that will be continuously updated and improved as new national codes and guidelines are developed. The IRT is a useful document for any country wishing to develop its own CRIRSCO-type reporting standard.
The International Reporting Template for the public reporting of Exploration Targets, Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (the Template) integrates the minimum standards adopted in national/regional reporting codes and standards worldwide with recommendations and interpretive guidelines for the public reporting of Exploration Targets, Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves.
